Chilwell School employs an independent Careers Advisor and is proud to have achieved Career Mark 5.
Careers guidance is an integrated part of both the PSHCE programme and Discovery Days. A range of activities and opportunities encourage pupils to explore potential careers and consider the vocational or academic pathways required to pursue them.
Specific guidance is offered to pupils during the Year 9 Option process and to pupils in Year 11 considering their Post 16 choices. Pupils with specific needs will receive additional support.
All pupils in Year 11 will receive a careers interview and support with applications for Post 16 courses, apprenticeships and other further training.
Careers Advisor Mrs James is in school throughout the week and all pupils can book an appointment to receive individual advice, information and guidance. Mrs James can give practical help with getting a job, an apprenticeship or a place at college.
Careers appointments can be book via Form Tutors.
The careers resource area in the school library has information on a range of subjects such as courses, apprenticeships, jobs, health, money and free time.
